It opened four years later on May 7, 1977, and the WNC Nature Center remains one of Asheville’s most beloved attractions. The WNC Farmers Market opened in 1977 on property purchased from the Biltmore Estate. Electronic music pioneer Robert Moog moved to Asheville in 1978.
